Lol Glenwood South is really becoming Little Italy
Itâaleigh, my friend. I guess we could go with Little Itâaleigh.
Can we get a proper Italian pastry shop then?
Apparently actually finally happening. Iâm not sure about the evil faces in the lights or the ghosts sitting at the tables, but Iâll still be happy to check it out.
ahtsa lotsa pasta!
Iâm guessing that the target audience for this place isnât the typical young Glenwood South crowd. This place just feels like 30s/40s crowd to me based on how itâs being presented. Does anyone know? I wonder how thatâs going to work out?
The Chapel Hill Crunkleton seems to always have a wide spread of ages from UNC kids on dates or looking for a classier time to the older audiences. The young Glenwood crowd doesnât really venture down to Smoky Hollow anyway. Itâs its own bubble.
Same crowd Madre gets. Date night type of spot.
All new office leases are good news these days. Here is someone moving from coworking space Wework to 9000 sq ft in the 421 Harrington building at Smoky Hollow.
*Lucid Software plans to relocate its East Coast hub from the WeWork coworking space at the One Glenwood building to Smoky Hollow. Lucid is moving into 9,000 square feet at 421 N. Harrington, a 9-story, 225,000-square-foot Class A office building in Kane Realtyâs Smoky Hollow development.
The software company, which works with customers such as Google, GE and NBCUniversal, is based in Utah and picked Raleigh for its East Coast hub in 2022.
Today the operation is at 30 people locally and another 11 remote employees in the state who occasionally rotate in.*

Theyâre moving in across the hallway from my office. I liked using their empty space as an extra-large phone room
I had no idea Lucid had an East coast office here. The last trip I took before the pandemic was to their office in Utah because we were using one of their products at the time.
Same here. Iâve talked to them as a customer before and didnât know they had a Raleigh hub. Cool.
Maybe they could hire you and you could afford to move back to one of your several homes in Raleigh.
Went by Crunkleton earlier. Couldnât get any pictures because of the plastic taped up everywhere, but theyâre painting the interior. Happy to see this finally moving along.
Weâre expecting the taco restaurant , Italian restaurant, and an urgent care to open in the Hollow. If thatâs the Publix side of Smoky Hollow, my guess is thatâs where the urgent care would go. I could be wrong tho.
Some Crunkleton progress pics (through a window screen).
Also, the diner in the former J Lights seems to be coming along well. Teal vinyl booths were visible in the window.
Can we get a photo to confirm they are teal & not seafoam?
