The Fairweather and other condos on S. Harrington

It would be nice if the lot beside the amphitheater had a 30+ story building as well

Ah yes, I guess you would see it here. Looks like the rezoning was to DX-12-UL-CU… but all that was before the sale to the Durham developer I think?? Haven’t heard any updates on this. These massing also omit whatever is happening at Exploris Gateway site.

I would like the amphitheater moved to Dix as planned, a 30 story building as you said on that site, then a smaller 15-20 story building on the lot you mentioned. I’d also like the office and hotel towers by the convention center so we can have a better taper to the east instead of a 40 story tower next to SFHs. This cluster could become the Wewatta Street (Denver) of Raleigh with clusters of new skyscrapers built within the last 10 years.

Haven’t heard ANY updates on Gateway site, but I imagine after all these projects you’ve outlined are finished, they (or someone) will make moves on the Gateway. Would super-densify the south end of Fayettville St. and better connect the Park City South development to downtown.

I just meant the lot beside the amphitheater but that would be pretty nice but I’d love another park there that could serve as a grassy amphitheater

It doesn’t seem to be moving very slowly.

It is definitely moving very slowly. Several delays of various types. Delivery is now pushed to early October for the 2nd floor units. Mid/end-Nov for the penthouse units. It’ll be nearly 3 years since the 1st contract was signed for a unit (Jan 2018).

Gracious, this must be killing y’all. I am sure it will be worth it in the end, but its hard to beat the pain of contractor delays on the completion of your domicile.

I have beef with the various teams in regard to this project but it’s not so much related to the actual building construction delays. Things happen and these are unprecedented times. Hard to complain about uncontrollable circumstances. Of course that doesn’t make it any easier for us, either. lol

Random: Is there a story or reason why its called “The Fairweather”?

Previous family name. You’ll note (at least currently) there’s a “Colin Fairweather & Sons” painting contractor that still operates on that same block.

Because they only work on the building during fair weather. Hence the delays. :man_shrugging::grin:

Monarch got very lazy at the end of my build. Mine was delayed about 3 months. Spent a lot of money at Air B&B’s there at the end. Good luck, it will worth it but very aggravating.

I hope not but I wouldn’t be surprised if the project isn’t delayed further.

The black facade is almost done on the north side!

And tomorrow morning we leave Raleigh for what will probably be 2 months, essentially as long as it takes them to finish this project for us to move in. Worst part about it is we don’t be around to watch the 24 hour progress. :sob:

At least we have this community to stop in once a day and take shots of our east facing ground floor unit (left).
