The Fairweather and other condos on S. Harrington

A $1M listing was just listed for sale in the Fairweather. I’m curious how long this will sit on the market, finding a 1,700 square foot condo of this quality are rare downtown. I’m a big fan of the accordion style doors leading onto the porch making the living room and porch cohesive.

As beautiful as the building is, I’ve been really surprised at how bland some of the condo interiors are for the price. There’s very little character there. I’m surprised they didn’t opt for more loft/industrial influence, like leaving some concrete exposed.

Facing wrong way, but nice. Wonder if the ones facing the city views go for more?

Can’t believe @OakCityDylan and @OakCityKarla are selling so soon! They must really love moving!

charging extra for the obstructed view?
maybe the new owners can hang string lights between their balcony railings and the GIANT TRANSFORMER POWER LINES 5 FEET AWAY.
just yikes.

If i paid that much $ for this listed condo, I sure as hell wouldn’t accept looking at that garbage.

This is #502 and is a pretty nice spot and lots of sqf, though it’s definitely too rich for my blood. As for the transformer station, it’s actually more obvious the higher you get. Our street level unit I think had an incredible view, though I am slightly bias. :joy:

Some units do have exposed concrete where there are support beams in the floor plan. Only the first floor units (with no downstairs) neighbors can have concrete floors and as it turns out, our unit is the only one with concrete floors. Also, the builder decided some residents didn’t want exposed concrete and painted the support beams. :man_facepalming:t3:

I actually spend at least 4 hours or more sanding our concrete beam because they painted it when we asked them not to (twice).

Yeah I could imagine the view of those power poles and lines would be much worse the higher you go in the building on that side… Which is what’s so bizarre about the price point, higher = better views (normally)

You’ve probably got the ideal situation, the sweet spot, of anyone in the building despite higher costs with bad power equipment /poles/transformers a couple feet from a balcony higher up

We would tend to agree with you.

Car fire at the Fairweather garage? Two firetrucks and fire fighters in and out of the Fairweather.

@OakCityDylan

Hope everyone is okay! (Good thing it’s not over 40 stories tall and doesn’t have string lights!)

Found out today the Fairweather painting company has been dissolved (sold off by the remaining kids) and the property is being sold. The building will be torn down soon. Not sure what’s in store for the property but sounds like something is happening.

That news along with seeing recent surveying activity at the middle/end of the block is certainly interesting.

Maybe they’ll build a 10 story Sherwin Williams
