Sooo…they approved it for DX-30.
Note to self: Create DX-30 zoning code.

Right that’s what I’m saying it’s not an approval for 40 if the building can only be 30 stories
hey, 30 stories is more than most buildings downtown - I’ll take it!
I agree but it’s the principle of the approval process, name it correctly.
What I intended to use as a “fistbump” emoji is called “facepunch”. Let’s be clear @trueurbanist, we’re on the same page and I have no intention of virtually face punching you brother.
Oh, I’m def with you. City needs to offer more options for rezoning, FOR SURE.
While we’re at it can we create 60 story zoning and get a signature skypiece
Ayyyyyye now you’re talking
It’s called a “Planned Development” and you can propose any height.
But yes, I’d love to see a DX-60 actual zoning classification!
I understood what you meant lol
Let’s see that render!
Anybody knows why 40 is currently the maximum?
I might be wrong but I think it has something to do with the fire department?
That’s also my understanding. Has to do with the ability for the fire department to service the height.
Maybe we buy a bigger truck?
As long as we don’t end up with an Oklahoma City situation where one building towers over the others. I’d be happy to have a new tallest that breaks 600 ft.
Yeah I’m all for tall buildings downtown, but I don’t want to see that situation unless there’s a whole group of them being planned. That looks ridiculous.
Think you’d have to do at least two at the same time. One toward the center and one on one end would look okay like Downtown Charlotte
I see nothing wrong
Any time someone says downtown Charlotte they get an upvote from me.
As for the height limit - I think Raleigh just needs more buildings in the 300-600 ft range before we allow anything bigger. Exceptions could probably be made though.
