Wow! I kind of want to drive out there tonight to see this in person.
Guess that’s making skylights for Peace
Hey, that looks like a place where we can string some Edison bulbs.
I was one of those too. When Dan Douglas released his downtown like vision for Capital north of Peace I seized on that as a chance to get folks attention and contacted the City and State both trying get them to consider an at-grade design. They only stayed with an interchange because that is what was there…not because it improved anyone’s commuting time or downtown experience. I’m still mad about it and hope we get two 40 story towers there now and they realize, man, that would have been better with an at-grade design. Duh.
Oh, those poor Cotton Mill residents! Yikes.
If I remember correctly, the DOT claimed that an at grade intersection wouldn’t work because it couldn’t move the volume though that intersection in the way that this new design could. Am I remembering that correctly @dtraleigh ?
I thought it was bullshit, but I do think that we got their attention and ended up with a less awful alternative with the new bridge and a square loop exit.
Or one might say “bunch of jerk hammers”.
They made a lot of progress last night and removed part of the steel. This will be interesting to watch.
Maybe I should move my time lapse camera from the Fairweather and drop it on your balcony.
Really brightens up the place…
It really ties the room together.
I’m thinking they should leave it like that. It looks cool.
Our very own ruins!!
Looks like the developer expects to make grade separated pedestrian crossings at the rail tracks.
Still if this isn’t being built on spec then I don’t expect this project to be built at all.
What are you seeing that gives you that indication? Any idea what they are intending to link to on the other side?
